Description
An original 2nd export pressing of Abbey Road on the Parlophone label. Matrix 2/1. Please note the label is consistent with 2nd pressing, but also appears to be a Decca contract pressing [see the deep groove]. We are under the assumption that this record was most likely pressed for use in the Caribbean. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Garrod & Lofthouse cover. The cover is the very 1st edition with a misaligned Apple logo on the rear. The Apple logo has been obscured by a gold coloured Parlophone sticker. Apple were not licensed for export at this point hence the Parlophone labels.
Vinyl (Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen light to moderate use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks on side 1 and few on side 2 - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Interference is both light and infrequent. All we could detect was a touch of light static in the odd place and certainly nothing remotely close to being invasive. A beautiful little player in its own right and all the more impressive given that it is an export contract pressing.
Cover (Ex-) In great shape and has clearly been looked after down the years. Lovely shiny front with a few creases toward the opening. The rear is in great condition too with just a couple of creases in the bottom left corner. That gold sticker totally obscures the apple logo and is in very very nice condition indeed. There's a signature inside the opening of the cover. Edge wear is light and the spine is fully intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and lies totally flat. A surprisingly nice example to find after all these years..
