Description

An original 1st mono press of HELP! on the UK Parlophone label from 1964.  Matrix 2/2 - 1st cut. 1st pressing is denoted by the abbreviated "Lark Mus. " publishing credit for 'Act Naturally' and the space between the asterisk and the end of "I Need You". The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original mono G&L cover with flipbacks. Also included is the original Emitex inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In beautiful condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are very very quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Wow, what a player! It's bold and assured with no sign of background at all. The audio quality is absolutely top-quality.. in fact, it's one of the best renditions of HELP I've ever witnessed. Help was widely regarded as the Beatles foray into the county style/genre. Consequently, many tracks are low-key acoustic. If you don't get yourself a super-clean copy you'll be left disappointed. Even the super-doopa TEST track 'Yesterday' plays clean. If that one plays clean you're really onto something...  YOU will not find a better playing copy that I can guarantee you. All I could detect were a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side and precious little else....And from 1965 that's not always an easy find. Sweet!
Cover (Ex) It sure is nice to see that iconic front image looking so clean and white. It's not perfectly white, but it's close and way way better than what usually surfaces. There's barely a crease on the front which must be quite unusual. The rear looks superb and has escaped most of the ageing that so often afflicts these early 60's covers. Edge wear is mostly light with just a bit more along the top edge - but nowhere near wearing through. All flipbacks are intact and secure, but they have a touch of light ageing. The spine looks superb with the text all visible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A very fine original specimen.
