Description

An original 4th press of PPM in the UK on Parlophone. Matrix 1N/1N. This pressing would have been available in the shops SUMMER 1963 as BEATLEMANIA was in full swing. There's NO 'sold in the UK' statement, but THERE IS 'recording 1st pub' - this equates to 4th press/issue. We also have the original Emitex inner sleeve with 'patents pending'. Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has seen relatively light use. These early copies were built to last and this copy plays exceedingly well. Expect a couple of light marks per side - but nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with just one slight deviation. Playback is of a very high standard - one that totally belies its relative age. Just a warm clean delivery of some terrific audio - a total treat. Intros and inbetweens are really nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Anything detrimental...>>? Well, all I could detect were a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. CLEAN - consistently. A couple of ticks in 'Love Me Do' - but that really is it. Even the lower-key tracks play really nice and clean. I mean really clean particularly given the vintage we're talking about here, It's a top-grader. It's a belter!
Cover (Vg+) A really well cared for original example - many examples do not make it through time looking this refined. A clean and flat front cover with a couple of stress creases in the bottom right corner and a bit of wear to the extreme top left corner. The rear has avoided the worst of the ageing process. There is, however, a bit of foxing in a couple of areas [e.g. around the track listing]. The flipbacks are all secure and mostly intact - just a slight bit of wear observable in the extreme top right corner. Edge wear is relatively light and the spine is fully intact apart from the extreme top and bottom. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity thanks to the heavy card employed in manufacture.
Inner (Vg+) A bit of ageing. There are no splits.
