Description
An original stereo 1970 pressing of TSMR on the UK boxed Decca label. Matrix 4k/4k - as per the earliest unboxed copies. Please note label colouring and design is consistent with a 1970 copy shortly after the label re-design of the late 60's. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Robert Stace cover with the format peephole. Also included is the original blue and white Decca inner sleeve date coded to March-1970 [3-70]. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) A stunning copy that has only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. This much overlooked Stone's classic really comes to life on a decent early pressing. Ok, so one might prefer the '67 1st stereo press, but in this kind of condition you're looking at a big outlay $$$. This copy, coming just a couple of years later, is a very solid pressing and delivers a fantastic rendition. There's next to no background interference to invade what is often very low-key percussive passages. It just plays sweet and clean...'Rainbow'...mmmm. In fact, all I could detect were a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments. In reality a very impressive rendition and one that would be difficult to improve upon.
Cover (Ex) Might grade slightly higher, but for the fold in the spine and a few light indentations on the rear. Lovely shiny front with only one crease down in the bottom right corner. Beautiful rear with just those light indentations - which you have to tilt the cover to the light to even make out [above the word MAJESTIES]. There's no sign of fading or ageing so the colours are all still bold and vivid. The interior is pretty much immaculate. Edge wear is very light for this title and the openings are still sharp. The text on the spine is intact, but due to the way it is designed there's a fold running down the middle of it. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex) No markings, ageing, or splits.
