Description
PLEASE NOTE: I no longer have a quality turntable to play 78 rpm records – I only have an ancient single unit record player to use. It has a weakened speaker so it’s very difficult to tell what distortions are caused by the player and what might be defects on the discs. I’ll give you my best guess.
Title: TALES OF UNCLE REMUS FROM WALT DISNEY’S SONG OF THE SOUTH
Studio: Capitol - CC 40
General Description: 3 disc (78 rpm) album recreating stories and songs from the 1946 film “Song of the South”. This is a studio recording, NOT a soundtrack release. James Baskett narrates and does a little singing and the disc labels credit “original cast” members. Primarily the songs are performed by Johnny Mercer and the Pied Pipers with Billy May and his Orchestra.
Album: VERY GOOD-PLUS-PLUS (I’d like to say “excellent”, considering its age and, for its age it IS excellent) – Excellent-Minus edges with a few bumps here and there – there is a 1” crack on the bottom of the right-front edge. Excellent-Plus spine – Incredibly Nice - the lettering is still 100%. Very Good-Plus corners there is moderate wear bottom right, both front and back. Very Good outer surfaces with light scuffing – there is a ½” abrasion on the back. Inside front surface is Good with no writing or abrasions but there is a fair amount of foxing. The record sleeves and the binding are as good as New. REALLY NICE!!
Records: VERY GOOD-PLUS (again, I’d like to go higher but, because of my poor player it’s difficult to say). No Pops, skips, repeats, regular tics or loud static. There are the occasional random light tics and flicks but my main concern is some distortion, especially with bass sounds. I’d like to say that this is caused by my player but it’s possibly general “wear” of the discs. What I can say is every word and note comes through quite clearly. The voice of Johnny Mercer is clearly the voice of Johnny Mercer - - and the voice of James Baskett is clearing the voice of James Baskett. I’m probably making to much of it all. These are VERY NICE.

Packaging: Shipped in a cardboard “record” box with extra cardboard padding.
Returns: If you find the item to be less than described - LETS TALK - but I'm not willing to negotiate with "buyers" who simply want to copy an item for "free".
