Description
An original 1st press of MH on the UK Purple label. Matrix A1/B1. Stampers 2-GDM/2-GGD. Please note the labels mention 'Gramophone' in the perimeter text which is indicative of 1st issue. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. Also included is the original patent nos inner sleeve, but the lyric sheet is ABSENT.
Vinyl (Ex+) In beautiful condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of tiny marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Very little to find fault with and a nigh on perfect rendition. Quality clean audio from start to finish - even in those very low-key organ passages..it's a beaut for sure! We couldn't detect more than a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments. As good as the current reissues are nothing is going to hold a candle to a well preserved 1st press. It will wipe the floor with every other version...FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex) In great condition and has clearly been looked after down the years. Lovely shiny front and rear with little issue - just some light stress creases over at the spine. The interior is in lovely condition - no issues. Edge wear is very light and the openings are still sharp. The text on the spine is ok - but the spine is suffering compression [as is common] making the text less easy to read. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A superb original specimen.
Inner (Vg+) No splits, minimal ageing. A bit of creasing.
