Description

A 1st pressing of Burn on the UK Purple label from 1974. Matrix A1U/B1U. Etching "Porky/Trish/Mel etc". 1-HP/2-GDM. Please note some of the very earliest 1st presses went out with "Gramophone" in the label perimeter text. This is due to the fact that the release date coincided with a label change EMI were in the process of rolling out. They were replacing the old fashioned name 'Gramophone' with 'EMI' in. Consequently very earliest 1st week copies can be found with 2 X Gramophone and others, from that 1st month of release, are to be found with EMI on one side and 'Gramaphone' on the other [effectively transitional]. The vinyl comes housed in an original Garrod & Lofthouse cover with title text found on two spines. Also included is the original EMI important notice white company inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+)  In beautiful condition and has only seen light careful use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. A beautiful rendition by any measure. You're going to witness this album like you were sat in the studio at the time. Really superb levels of clarity which allow you to hear deep into the mix. Interference is pretty much non-existent. I'll do my usual catch-all..you might detect a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments. It's pretty much as good as it's possible to go. Highly recommended. Please note the small white patch on the side 2 label is not surface damage. Note how the text is still present/intact across it. This discolouration occurred at the time of manufacture before the text was added.
Cover (Vg+) In very nice condition and has clearly been looked after. The front looks nice and clean and seems to have avoided most of the usual surface wear you tend to find. The rear is equally good, again, just lightest of handling. There's edge wear, but its thankfully quite minor. The spines are in very good order with lightest wear. All the text still seems to be legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing at the extremities. No splits or markings though.
